We listen, act, and transform
As soon as you hear my accent, you will know I am a native Texas citizen with a Texas LPC, Licensed Professional Counselor, license. I am originally from Northeast Texas but have lived in South Texas and West Texas. I began by studying to be a nurse and eventually changed my college major to Counseling. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and interdisciplinary studies and a master's degree in counseling. I have trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) but I do borrow from other approaches.
I have experience counseling people who experience anxiety, depression. and who have received such diagnoses as schizophrenia, bipolar, borderline and narcissistic personality disorders, adjustment disorders, PTSD, and stress related disorders. I have also counseled people with addictions, grief, anger management and coping with life's changes.
My counseling style is straight forward but down-to-earth, warm, and non-threatening. I am a believer in Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit and if the client requests it, I incorporate these principles in our counseling time.
